If anyone had asked me what was the best decision that you made in your blogging career, then I would definitely say choosing “WordPress“!

From Blogger to WordPress: Comparing the Stats

Visitors:

Earlier, when my site was in Blogger, it used to have around 200 visitors per day(max). The page hits were so low that sometimes it would make me think that “Blogging is not for me”. But now, after shifting to WordPress, the graph is just increasing. The minimum visitor count per day I got till now was only 1.5k or so.

Page  views:

The same story is with the number of page views. If there are more visitors, then automatically your page views would increase. I remember asking Rahul during the migration process “What do you feel about my site? It gets around 15k page views per month.” He replied back saying, it is quite decent (I knew it was not) and it should increase constantly, which is a healthy factor for any site. But now, I get 15k page views, in 2 days.

Search engine visitors:

The number of visitors coming from search engines (mainly Google) were only 20-50 when I was in Blogger. But, now I get more than 1k queries per day. For some of the keywords, my site shows on the first page in Google after this migration.

Alexa ranking:

Symposiumz ranking was around 7 lakh when it was in Blogger. Now, it is about to touch 1lakh soon. But the Google page rank doesn’t seem to have changed much. May be it takes some time.

RSS readers:

If I remember correctly, my RSS feed count was close to 200 in Blogger. But now, it is about to cross 3k. I think, that would be a nice figure for any site.

Site reach:

Earlier, my site got visitors only from Chennai. Now, it has slowly expanded and I can see the patches spreading all over India in my analytics account.

Adsense revenue:

It took nearly 9 months to get my first cheque from Adsense. But now, I get a check every month. You could calculate the minimum amount I could earn from that.

All these things happened within a minimum span of 3 months. It is off season for my site and the visitor count has reduced to some amount. But WordPress bought a big change in my stats in the past few months. Moreover, WordPress is so customizable that you will feel the difference and you wouldnt regret migrating. If you are new to blogging, I would strongly recommend you to start your blogging career with WordPress.

AdSense earnings

Shocked? Obviously you must have been. I started my blogging career an year ago and I got my first AdSense check only 3 months back.  Before that, I used to check my balance everyday and what I got was a dollar or two and sometimes only a few cents. But this new trick will help you make your account balance reach a huge amount you can ever imagine.

Wait, But this time Google will not be sending any checks for these balance. Yeah, the screenshot shown above was taken from a fake AdSense generator. You can generate a balance page with any amount you want. Use this trick to show your friends how much you “earned” with Google AdSense this month.

For those who came to this post on reading the title. Sorry to disappoint you guys. I wished there was some real way of making more $$ from AdSense. But as you know, money doesn’t come the easy way. So, work hard on your sites and money will start flowing through automatically.

# 2  Shout’em

Shout’Em is platform on which you can easily start co-branded microbloging social networking service. Since they are in beta phase they provide all the premium features free of cost. Even after their beta testing you will have the option of using all the premium features like private network, ads management, file sharing, etc for a month of trial period. #1 co.cc Domains

co.cc is one of my favorite free domain service since it is lot more than a URL shortener. Domain name formats they provide is like www.yourdomain.co.cc. You can register upto 2 domains with a single account. You will get full control over domain management. They provide DNS and MX services too. So, you can either use the regular URL forwarding or frame forwarding (doesn’t show ur original link in address bar) or you can use these DNS services and add CNAMEs in your domain. CNAME control means you can use Google apps and so you can have your own email id like mail@yourdomain.co.cc rather than the usual yourname@gmail.com or yourname@yahoo.com.

#2 co.nr Domains

co.nr is not so special as co.cc but are in the market for long. They provide free domain name in the form www.yourdomain.co.nr and it can be used for either URL redirection for another domain or any long web URL. They also support meta tags and provide favicon support. The only problem with this service is that we need to provide a link back to their site from our homepage or where we redirect this URL or else the service will be deactivated momentarily.

#3 .tk Domains

DOT.TK domains are also used for url forwarding i.e to convert any web URL into the form www.yourdomain.tk . In addition to the normal URL forwarding they also provide mail forwarding where in we can choose upto 250 mail aliases to be forwarded to your mail account. For example, you can forward mail@yourdomain.tk or info@yourdomain.tk into your personal mail account. Earlier, they used to have a banner ad at the top of the window but now they have removed the ads completely which makes this service more attractive. The only problem now is all domain names that receive less than 25 hits per 90 days will be removed from your account.

There are a lot more free domain services but these are the only ones without any ads and they provide domains which are more or less similar to paid domains. I’Il write more on the other services in my next post. What are you waiting for?  Register your free domain now.
