Branding is very important. Almost all advertising is based on the concept of brand building. Large companies use everything from celebrities to tag lines which make you recognize the brand immediately. There is a trend now a days to brand your company for a previously unknown market which is space.
No aliens are not looking down through space and I am sure Firefox is not branding itself to aliens but it is doing so for a lot of people using Google Earth. A few years ago satellite pictures were only available for government agencies but today anyone with a computer can look up Google Earth imagery.

Google recently announced new updates to features with Google Buzz. Now Buzz is part of the settings section within Gmail and also you can mute a Buzz within the Inbox. Google Buzz has had a tumultuous start with many questioning it’s privacy features and there were a spate of posts on how to remove Buzz from Gmail only a day after it was introduced.

YouTube comes up with a lot of innovation from editing your videos online to watching television shows online. Recently YouTube announced recently that all the videos they have will have automatic closed captions enabled. The feature is available with many videos but not all. Apparently YouTube will take a little bit of time to give all the videos captions.
A few weeks ago I had covered a Chrome extension and Firefox add-on which covered notification of Google Wave on your browser. This is quite useful for people using Wave either extensively or not much at all. I personally think that I if you are using Google Wave not that often you might want to be notified about it as through your email rather than with a browser add-on.
Twitter went local or rather it has tried to show local trends which I felt was a great way to get the dirt on what is happening locally. Well we could not expect Google to sit idly and look at other website steal the thunder when it comes to local search. So now we have a search option with Google called Nearby.
Some of the Gmail Lab’s less useful features made it to gmail while the useful ones failed a test that never happened! Though, google had to say that the choice to upgrade and retire features was made on user feedback and usage, but it doesn’t look like the same.
