Facebook, a social networking website which is popular for it’s awesome privacy features. It’s good and necessary too as most of the social networking website users are mainly want to be secured while using net. The privacy features of facebook is good but still it can’t beat it’s own old privacy features where you can even hide your profile picture from those people who are not in your friend’s list.
The most trending privacy feature now days is to hide your profile pictures from unknown people or even from your friends. But let me clear one thing here is that you can only lock the profile picture album, your current profile will still be shown to everyone. To hide your profile pictures, simply follow the following procedure:
- Login to your facebook account and go to Account >> Privacy Settings. (see top right side of your profile). You can also simply click here to go to privacy settings.
- Now click on customize settings link on that page.
- Click on Edit album privacy to view the privacy level for all your albums. (link: http://www.facebook.com/privacy/?view=photos ).
- Now the first album will be your ‘Profile Pictures’. For that album select “Custom” option from the drop down list with the album.
- Now you will see a pop-up on screen, select “Only Me” option from the drop down list for “Make it visible to” option.
That’s it, you’re all done now as there’s no need to save these changes. Go back to your homepage and your profile pictures album will now be locked for everyone even if the person is in your friend’s list. You can also lock this album for few people or none of them. Select the desired option from the same drop down list after you saw the pop-up.

Well, this is a good tutorial except I would like to hide my profile picture only for non-friends (ie people that search me on Facebook; it’s okay for them to find me by my name but I don’t want them to see my profile picture if they’re not friends with me, I want that to be only visible for my friends..) Is there a way to do that?

The only way to hide your profile picture from non-friends is to replace the profile picture with a dummy picture. This ensures you don’t have a profile picture for viewing. Anyone wanting to see your profile pic(s) can simply access your profile pictures album. This solution, combined with the above for every album you don’t want anyone to see, will hide the selected pics from everyone (including friends).

No, there was a feature on fb just like the one you are talking about but it’s not possible now..

mkaay sooo i can see my profile picture album when im on my iphone, but when i go on the comp, and click my prof pic i dont see the other pictures …. It says there are no pics in this album .
& so i go to my albums, and see my profile pic album with all my pics .. and see that another is there aswell except it doesnt have any pics.

If you keep your Profile pic album private nobody will be able to comment on it. People can only see the profile photo on profile but not in album.

No you cant hide the profile picture which is displayed on the profile you can just tweak your settings so that people cant see that photo in an album!

I am not using it ..that’s the problem .Their are 6 pics and i want to delete 2 from the profile album but their is no option at the bottom to do so …WHAT DO I DO??

Is there a way to hide all photo albums from a person or category by changing just one setting? I’d like a single blanket setting to be able to hide all albums from Joe Smith or anyone in the “family” category. I could then, if I wanted to, apply additional restrictions on a per-album basis. Since I have 40+ albums, I don’t feel like editing each one right now.

i went to <my profile
under it, i click on my photos
then i click on my album picture.
at the top of the picture
i saw edit album, so i click on it
then i saw a privacy there
then i click on the arow that shows downwards and i click on customize

If you are using firefox, go to Options>>Content>>Click on exceptions link given with ‘Load Images Automatically’ and remove facebook.com from the list.
I figured out how to do this for my profile, but I also want to do it with a page I have. I can’t even seem to find a link to account settings once I switch to the page and when I go to “help” and try to search topics, it tells me I have to switch back to my profile. I know it can be done because I am a “fan” of other pages that seem to have done it, but I just can’t figure it out :/ I’m usually pretty good at playing around with it and figuring it out, but I give up…any help would be much appreciated!

He just uploaded the pic and removed it. To do so, roll over your mouse cursor on you pic and click change picture and then click on remove this picture.

The above advice does not stop people seeing your profile pic. It stops them seeing the album if they go to your photos but your profile pic is still fully visible.

See the step 4 in above article. You have to select the option one to make it visible to everyone on Facebook. Rest of the steps are same.

Ugh ok so heres the problem, My laptop is broken so im using the facebook from my phone, So i have the mobile upload and the profile pictures, But everyone can see the profile pictures so i deleted every picture in that album, But when i delete my current profile picture i have to remove it as my profile picture, So i want to delete my profile picture Album but still keep my profile picture and do all that through my phone
