In Wordpress, focus is on content and blogging and in case of Buddypress, focus is more on users. For your Wordpress website I prefer say that Buddypress will be best option since WP supports BP to its best. Integrating these two is much easier with a single click. The Buddypress world has much more to explore with its flexible environment..
