Facebook once again changes it’s album photo size and the way Facebook shows it. The photos are now bigger and finally Facebook changed it’s black background photo viewer. The new size for the Facebook photos are 960 pixels (earlier it was 720 pixels) that means the new bigger photos are really that big! It’s gonna cover your whole screen so that person who’s viewing it will focus on the pic only as it will cover everything else on the page.

In the pic above you can see the difference between a 720 pixel and 960 pixel pictures. (For comparison only, not actual size).

The second change is that the photos now will be loaded faster with it’s new viewer. Also they changed the black background as we see in the current viewer. The new viewer will have a white background and the image will cover whole screen hiding the things in background.

Other options of Photo viewer are still the same. You still can’t right click on the photos and you have to click ‘download’ for saving a picture to your desktop. Please note that this feature is not available for everyone yet and Facebook will be rolling out this to everyone within next few days.

Do share your reviews with us.

Facebook has become the place of interest for internet users to hang around, play games, network, share photos and more. It’s quite a common trend that everyone uploads their pictures on Facebook. If you are willing to show those photos on your WordPress powered blog, this is the right tutorial for you.

Get the Plugin

We will be using a plugin to implement the feature on the blog. Fotobook is a WordPress plugin that will link to your Facebook account and import all of your photo albums into a page on your WordPress installation. It makes use of Facebook’s API so importing your photos is a breeze.
You can download the plugin here

Configure the plugin

Install the plugin from the admin section. and activate the plugin.
Once you activate the plugin, you can see something like in the following screenshot.

<a rel="nofollow" wp-att-2435" href="http://wpveda.com/howto-share-facebook-photos-wordpress-blog/1-3/">
Link to fotobook settings

Click on the link and you’ll be taken to the Fotobook Settings page.

<a rel="nofollow" wp-att-2436" href="http://wpveda.com/howto-share-facebook-photos-wordpress-blog/2-3/">
Fotobook Settings Page

Step 1: Authenticate

This step asks you to login to your Facebook account. This is the step by which you allow the plugin to access your account and fetch the images and publish to your blog. Clicking on the link opens a pop-up window as below. Enter your login credentials and click the login button.
<a rel="nofollow" wp-att-2441" href="http://wpveda.com/howto-share-facebook-photos-wordpress-blog/3-2/">
This will take you to the next step, that is grant access.
<a rel="nofollow" wp-att-2442" href="http://wpveda.com/howto-share-facebook-photos-wordpress-blog/4-3/">
After this step, you may close the pop-up window and proceed to the step 2.
Step 2 : Get Permissions
This step asks you to grant access for your photos and videos associated with your Facebook account.<a rel="nofollow" wp-att-2443" href="http://wpveda.com/howto-share-facebook-photos-wordpress-blog/5-3/">
Once you allow the Fotobook plugin to do so, you can close the window and proceed to the next step.
Step 3: Apply Permissions
By clicking this, you apply all the steps done before and save the settings. Once you click Apply Permissions your Facebook account will be added and you can see something like below.
<a rel="nofollow" wp-att-2446" href="http://wpveda.com/howto-share-facebook-photos-wordpress-blog/6-3/">

Import Photos to blog

<a rel="nofollow" wp-att-2447" href="http://wpveda.com/howto-share-facebook-photos-wordpress-blog/6-4/">This will take you to the next step which is shown below.
<a rel="nofollow" wp-att-2448" href="http://wpveda.com/howto-share-facebook-photos-wordpress-blog/7-4/">
Clicking on Get Albums will fetch from your Facebook account and list all the albums related to your account. By this time, the plugin have created the exact replica of albums on your Facebook account. You can even hide the albums if you don’t want to show that specific album by clicking the hide link.
<a rel="nofollow" wp-att-2449" href="http://wpveda.com/howto-share-facebook-photos-wordpress-blog/8-2/">

That’s it, you are done. You can now access the albums at http://yourblogdomain/photos
The plugin also allows you to display photos in 3 styles.

Color box.

Embedded.

Lightbox.

<a rel="nofollow" wp-att-2450" href="http://wpveda.com/howto-share-facebook-photos-wordpress-blog/9-2/">
Select the style and you are all set. Do drop in your comments.

There can be many ways of zooming a particular photograph on Facebook, one of which is PhotoZoom 1.8 Add-on. You can zoom any photograph on Facebook, whether it is a profile photo or a normal album photo. You just need to install this Add on and move your mouse tip to that photo.

How to use it?

Go to PhotoZoom add-on page.

Click on Add to Firefox.

Click on Install when it asks you.

Restart your browser.

Once installed you will see the difference in viewing the images. They will appear bigger when you take your mouse over, as in the image below.

<a rel="nofollow" wp-att-3905" href="http://fbknol.com/photozoom-firefox-add-on-to-enlarge-photos-on-facebook/photozoom-1-8/">

How to remove it?

Suppose you are bored with this, then just follow simple steps and this Add on will be removed from your browser.

Go to Tools.

Click on Add-on.

Uninstall/Disable PhotoZoom 1.8.

Restart your browser.

This is a very simple Add on that I like. It’s not that you need to have this Add on necessarily but if you are a Facebook addict like me you sure will enjoy having it on your browser. If you know of any other Add on for photographs or video do share it with me through your comments.

Instead of showing credits or advertisements I found it really good to see some old photo memories of my friends.

It does give you a surprise and sort of helps in refreshing old memories with friends.

What do you think of such a feature? Don’t you think that Facebook should have more such features. Do let me know with your comments.

Facebook, a social networking website which is popular for it’s awesome privacy features. It’s good and necessary too as most of the social networking website users are mainly want to be secured while using net. The privacy features of facebook is good but still it can’t beat it’s own old privacy features where you can even hide your profile picture from those people who are not in your friend’s list.

The most trending privacy feature now days is to hide your profile pictures from unknown people or even from your friends. But let me clear one thing here is that you can only lock the profile picture album, your current profile will still be shown to everyone. To hide your profile pictures, simply follow the following procedure:

Login to your facebook account and go to Account >> Privacy Settings. (see top right side of your profile). You can also simply click here to go to privacy settings.

Now click on customize settings link on that page.

Click on Edit album privacy to view the privacy level for all your albums. (link: http://www.facebook.com/privacy/?view=photos ).

Now the first album will be your ‘Profile Pictures’. For that album select “Custom” option from the drop down list with the album.

Now you will see a pop-up on screen, select “Only Me” option from the drop down list for “Make it visible to” option.

That’s it, you’re all done now as there’s no need to save these changes. Go back to your homepage and your profile pictures album will now be locked for everyone even if the person is in your friend’s list. You can also lock this album for few people or none of them. Select the desired option from the same drop down list after you saw the pop-up.

For more facebook tips and tricks, keep visiting fbknol.com.

Orkut has already introduced sharing of photos on its website. One great way to share pictures on your Orkut profile is to share them directly from Picassa.

Sharing images is very vital for any social network and sharing them easily across the board is more important. We already use Twitter and Facebook without visiting their websites but actually doing so through their APIs on various websites. This is pretty much the same with photos which also you do not want to really share from just one platform.

Orkut also now allows sharing images through Scraps. These new and interesting features are being shown off by Orkut with a video on its blog.

Here is the video for sharing photos on Orkut

The video also explains how you can not just upload albums but also share them with selected friends and also with email address of people without an Orkut account.

Do let me know your views by dropping in your comments.

Facebook finally launches the resizing of photos officially. Now every time you upload a photo on Facebook you will see a bigger image with better pixels and hence better quality. In January Facebook made an announcement regarding this resizing of picture feature including resizing of profile pictures. But now Facebook started larger photo option on most of the profiles and will launch it completely soon. So if you are not able to use this feature just wait for few time. Hopefully they will launch the same feature for profile pictures soon.

This new feature will allow you to upload a photo of 720 pixels which is 20 percent larger than the previous upload option. Obviously this will make Facebook more interesting cuz it’s still the largest photo sharing website worldwide. But whether people like this feature or not, it’s clear that Facebook is still the number one social networking website in the world and no one can take this in near future.

Another supercool application for Facebook ‘Photo Tagger’. It is an application developed by face.com and even the Facebook officials use the same application to tag their photos on pages and their profiles due to the accuracy of this application.

This application works on the basis of previously tagged photos by you and detects the same face for new tags. This application basically detects all the faces in the selected album and categorizes it into three.

The first one is that in which it detects the name of the face from previously tagged photo. Second one is that in which an album is having more than one pic with the same face but the name is not defined. The third one is no name single face category which is known as ungrouped.

Check the screenshot below.

(click to enlarge)

In the above screenshot, a Facebook album is analyzed,

Details gathered after analysis.

Accurately detected faces but without name.

Though this application is accurate but it isn’t 100% . See the two faces are similar but not same.

Ungrouped faces, click on the small button below every pic to use a name for them.

Go to the application here or navigate from face.com

Once again the Facebook is going to change a major thing in it’s design, and this time it’s the way how you upload your photos. Currently it’s done by using third party ActiveX and Java applet. But after so many complaints and loads of error in this uploader, they are going to change it completely. For the new uploader developers have set some goals which are,

Don’t depend on Java.

Uploads should be asynchronous; that is, you should be able to browse around on Facebook while an upload is ongoing.

The uploader’s UI needs to integrate well with current and future revisions of Facebook’s chrome.

UI iteration needs to be easy (no recompiling code).
