Google accidentally lists Nexus 5 in Play Store

The highly rumored Nexus 5 pops up in Google Play, confirming a price of 349$ for the 16GB model. It was pulled off immediately from the site.

More and more leaks happen as we get closer to the release of Nexus 5. In fact, it’s probably the most leaked Nexus ever. This time, it’s funny – because, Google itself (deliberate may be?) has put Nexus 5 on the Play Store.

The Nexus 5 was listed beside the new Nexus 7 and 10 in the devices section of Google Play. This includes a high resolution photo of Nexus 5 (as shown below), along with product description. It was of course pulled off after a few minutes.

Nexus 5

The product description says “Capture the everyday and the epic in new fresh ways. Starting at 349$”. That apparently gives a hint at Nexus 5’s camera improvements, along with the price tag of 349$ for the 16GB model.

You can also make out from the picture that, Hangouts has replaced Messaging app and there are little UI tweaks (transparent nav/status bar) here and there, in Kitkat. All this is of course leaked a few days back, this is just more of a confirmation.

We’re not sure when is the launch day of Kitkat/Nexus 5, but nevertheless, this is an exciting time for Android fans.

Do you look forward to get the Nexus 5? Do comment below.

Around 1 Week Back I was all set to buy the Nexus 4, as I was saving my money for it! but now Nexus 5 is coming soon, so I cancelled my plan to buy the Nexus 4 and hoping that Nexus 5 will launch for reasonable price in India!
and my question for you is that, Is LG making the Nexus 5, and what do you think is it a good decision of not buying a Nexus 4 ?

Vibin October 19, 2013

I will suggest waiting for Nexus 5. It’s made by LG and they might release, may be after 2 months in India (or even more). Nexus 4, of course is a solid phone, even in 2013. But Nexus 5 will be featuring a much better camera, probably better battery life, and bigger screen. If you need those, wait for Nexus 5, or just get the Nexus 4.

Thanks for your suggestion 🙂
What are the best alternatives to the Nexus 4 ?

Aditya Kane October 21, 2013

@Varun: I have been using Nexus 4 for a few months now and I am very happy with it. If you really could wait, wait for Nexus 5 as Vibin suggested as I am sure it will be even better and the camera will be far better. Only issue with Nexus 5 in India is that we are not sure when it will start showing up in India. Hopefully earlier than what has been the case previously because of Android stores in India opening but one cannot be absolutely sure.

If you can wait for 6 months go for the Nexus 5, if you cannot Nexus 4 is good enough too, especially for the price it is being sold for.

Other phones are good too but none will give you the vanilla Android experiance and updates like Android 4.4 KitKat will take months to show up on your phone.

As you said that Nexus 5 will come camera improvements and due to the recently opened Android Store, maybe Nexus 5 will launch soon in India too after the international launch.
and thanks 🙂
