This morning I stumbled over a post that explained about the recent revisions and amendments in the Indian IT Act 2000 that particularly looks after cyber crimes. The post explains about the amended rules and also warns about how seriously exchange of porn contents would be dealt with.
The article also explains that porn contents does not mean the one that you exchange via compact disks or via internet, it also includes transferring text and images or MMS from your mobile, PDAs (Personal Digital Assistants) or computer system.
It’s not just the Internet that the IT Act covers, it also covers activities performed using your computer, PDA, mobile phone, and other devices of communication. So, things like forwarding an SMS and sending an MMS too now fall under the jurisdiction of the IT Act.
So even if you are transmitting such unlawful contents with your friends in India, take extra care whether the contents reach to appropriate recipient else you’ll have to face a lot of financial hardships or it may even put you behind bars.
