In past, whenever I wrote any post for symbian OS mobiles, I recieved many comments/mails saying that SIS files I referred cannot be installed. The problem was many of them was unsigned. While few people turn-off certificate (signed) verification, rest either don’t know how to do it or need a signed version for some reason.
First how to turn-off sign checking…
Go into menu > tools > settings > applications > app.manager. Turn software installation to all and online certificate check to off.
This may vary little depending on your handset model. But the process is similar. This will allow you to use any app that hasn’t been digitally signed.
Next how to get a symbian app signed online…
There is an Open Signed program, currently in beta, which do signing job for symbian application. Its free but have few limitation and also note the restrictions before using the service.
The service is quite simple to use. Just enter your handsets IMEI number, email address, and upload the unsigned SIS file. You will get it signed.
Thanks Manish for sharing this via a comment.

Hey Rahul,
You ought to have told this loong ago man.. No wonder all those aps you posted about didn’t work. Anyway.. hopefully, they’ll all work from now on π
@Cicero
Yep, you are right buddy π
But its better late than never… π
its not all applications which r open signed. there is LATEST way to installl unsigned apps on ur s60v3 os 9.1 or os 9.2 phones. its unofficial and called as hacking of phone.with this,,u can sign apps within ur phone and no need to upload and wait to get it signed.it also gives access to system files of s60v3 phones. bytheway simbian signed was closed. nokia doesnt wants we to use third party apps on our phones….but i am of opinion,, its my phone,, i can install whatever in it to use it to fullest. … considering illegal materials not allowed here,, i am not going in details of hacking π but be sure there IS way. …ah ….one more MORE easy way is…get ur certificate file….YESSSSSSS! it can be made STILL ! chinese people can make it for us …. but…again illegal.
@Adi
I agree with your views about freedom of using any application on handset you own..
So you can post link to that way here…
of course I will check it first. π

Hi, i cant find totalrecall (full version)software for my NOKIA 5233.
Hi Rahul,
I have read your blog and found it very useful.
I am having a Nokia C6(symbian v5) mobile phone and i want to use my pc internet from my cell phone via bluetooth.
I tried the way u suggested and failed.
System configuration
Laptop: inbuilt bluetooth,WINDOWS VISTA,
Mobile:Nokia C6, symbian v 5
Below are the steps that i performed
1.I installed m-router on my laptop successfully.
2.I tried to install the sis file from my mobile but it due to some certification problem it failed to install. π
a.I tried gnubox.sis
Error:-“Installation of gnubox.sis is not supported”
b.I tried gnubox_s60v3.sis
Error:-“Certificate Error.Contact the application supplier”.
3.I tried the link here to bypass the certification thing,i tried that settings also by putting off the “online certification check” and “software installation” to ALL.
But No luck π
So please help in finding the solution.
Eagerly waiting for you comment.
