Usability, usability, usability… guess that’s what the product managers are chanting all the time inside Google Labs.

When it comes to how to present interactive data to users, they beat everyone! For instance, check out the cool timeline features by Google Labs for Google News.

By using this feature, the results of user queries on Google News gets organized on a zoomable, graphical timeline.

How to use:

  1. Visit the Google news page inside Google Labs.
  2. Add a query; say for instance, “Delhi Daredevils” under ‘Sports scores’.
  3. Try to set the time scale to days, weeks, months, years or even decades.
  4. Now, drag the timelines of the results to specify a date range.
