This post is to announce a big update to BuddyPress Kaltura Media Plugin which makes it compatible with BuddyPress version 1.1.x.

This feature was in so much demand that we added support for it ahead of time. It was originally planned for release towards the end of this month.

This new release have widget support for:

  • Recently Added Pictures
  • Recently Added Videos

You can configure number of pictures/videos that will show.

You can see widget in action here – http://bp.rtcamp.in/bp1.1/

You can download new release from this page.  Look for highest version in 1.1.x series. As of now its 1.1.

Does the new version record new entries to the activity stream?

qafro November 11, 2009

Is it using the Kaltura CE server?

Kapil November 11, 2009

Activity Streaming will be available soon…!

Kapil November 11, 2009

It can be integrated with both Kaltura.com and KalturaCE without any problems.

Phil November 11, 2009

This is great, it’s exactly what I need- except for audio. When will audio support be added (on the demo it says “Soon”).

Kapil November 13, 2009

Audio support is available now… 😉
Please check Development Version

Phil November 13, 2009

Thanks – you guys are awesome.

kunal November 23, 2009

I have it installed and configured. However, I get a blank white page whenever I try to access the media section in a profile.

This could be because its my theme is different? Where do reset the theme path?

Joe McCann November 25, 2009

Ratu November 27, 2009

Please help !
Problem when I activate the plugin :
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘)’, expecting ‘(‘ in /homez.312/lecluba/www/wp-content/plugins/rt-bp-kaltura-plugin/rt-bp-kaltura-templatetags.php on line 120

Any Idea?

Chris K November 30, 2009

Will this new plugin allow for the user to embed the video into their WPMU Blog or just the profile page for BuddyPress? Thanks! I have Kaltura CE on another server and thought this would be a great addition for our teacher bloggers.

Bradly December 2, 2009

Will there be support for ‘Videos’ and ‘Pictures’ pages? This is an awesome plugin but it would be even better if there was a way to add pages in the menu where users could search through all video and pictures, and even see the ‘top rated’ etc.

Kapil December 7, 2009

Hi all,
I have tested it on WPMU 2.8.6, BP 1.1.2, BP 1.0.3 and latest BP 1.1.3 as well.
My PHP Version is 5.2.9.
But I am not able to reproduce Parse error.
If possible, give me url.
Plugin is retested on bp.rtcamp.us 😉

Kapil December 7, 2009

Parse error occurred because of PHP4 as a class variable is accessed (on line 120 in file rt-bp-kaltura-templatetags.php as a function parameter) and PHP4 doesn’t like it (Plz cross check php.net)
…Use PHP5 for avoiding Parse error…
Thanks a lot @Joe McCann for mentioning this!
Had fun finding this 😉

Andrea December 17, 2009

Sascha December 23, 2009

Hi there,

I am getting the missing KS error when I try to complete the installation in the Kaltura settings page. I am running the latest versions of WPMU and BuddyPress. I am grateful for any help!

Tico January 30, 2010

Greetings Kapil,

Thank you for the plugin. I am getting an error after install which says on the user page :Page Not Found

This happens for all media types. I cannot find any documentation that addresses this.

In addition, this keep throwing me off as the sentence is on the footer of the media type content window: Please log in and add widgets to this column. Add Widgets

I do not see any widgets that would do anything.

Please help

Trevor March 10, 2010

Dido Tico!
Page not found for my users too. No response in the forums — did anybody get back to you? Seems like a bug.

Kapil March 25, 2010

@Andrea Rating is added in new version of this media component (BP 1.2 compatible)
@Tico @Trevor Please mention version of wpmu and bp you are using.
